Home > Notices & Events > Berkeley Updates > Update on The Berkeley Institute Student Auxiliary Cycle Policy and New Registration Form

Good day Berkeley Parents and Guardians,

Over the past few weeks, myself, along with a dedicated team have been updating the policy for student parking on campus to better reflect our current student population and needs. An audit was conducted to determine the availability of parking on campus. It was determined that there is ample parking for the student population who wish to ride and park their auxiliary cycle on The Berkeley Institute grounds.

As such, beginning MONDAY, MARCH 18, 2024 there will be NO designated cycle bays on The Berkeley Institute grounds.

All new and current students will have to register their auxiliary cycles with the school using the new Registration Form.

For your reference, the updated policy is as follows:

  • THERE WILL BE NO DESIGNATED CYCLE BAYS FOR STUDENTS, ON THE BERKELEY INSTITUTE GROUNDS, EFFECTIVE MONDAY, MARCH 18, 2024. Approved students may park in student cycle bays on a first come, first served basis. Note: There are more than enough cycle bays for all registered students and future registrants.
  • The parent or guardian confirms that the student has completed and passed Project Ride.
  • The parent or guardian confirms that the student has a valid Bermuda Driving License for an auxiliary cycle.
  • The parent or guardian understands that having a license, a vehicle, and parking on The Berkeley Institute grounds is a privilege and not a right.
  • If there is a change of license information, or auxiliary cycle, the parents or guardian will update the school immediately with the new information.
  • The parent or guardian understands that there will be random checks of auxiliary cycles to ensure that they are registered with the school. Cycles that are not registered with the school will be clamped.
  • The parent or guardian understands that if the student is caught or reported by a member of the community or a staff member engaging in dangerous driving behaviours or speeding, to or from school, whether in or out of uniform (i.e. sanctioned Grub Days), the privilege to ride and park on The Berkeley Institute grounds will be revoked for a minimum of two (2) weeks in the first instance.
  • The parent or guardian agrees that their son or daughter will abide by the rules established by The Berkeley Institute for riding and parking on The Berkeley Institute grounds. Failure to do so will result in the privilege of riding and parking on school grounds being revoked.
  • Submission of the Registration Form is not a guarantee for permission. Students are not allowed to park on The Berkeley Institute grounds until confirmation has been received.
