LEARNING SUPPORT

The Berkeley Institute is committed to providing a quality education to all students. Consequently, our responsibility is to provide the appropriate support services to ensure the success of all students.

Although the classroom teachers can meet the needs of many students within the classroom setting, situations arise when teachers need assistance. When this occurs, the classroom teacher may request a school team meeting to share information and devise additional strategies that may address the identified needs of the student. The school team is composed of the student’s parents and relevant school staff. This dynamic partnership allows for a sharing of responsibility between parents and school staff.

One of the outcomes of the school team meeting may be a referral to the school's support team.

The Support staff include:

Learning Support Teachers

Learning Support Teachers support students experiencing learning difficulties. They develop an individual education programme for each student, in collaboration with classroom teachers. They also monitor the student’s progress and serve as an advocate for the student. These teachers focus on keeping students in the classroom where they can benefit from the expertise of the subject teacher and interact with peers.
